My take on this is that you should update your operating system and installed software when Microsoft and the software developers issue updates, but wait on searching for and installing any updates from Intel.

That includes iOS, WatchOS and MacOS from Apple, Windows Update from Microsoft, firmware updates from your computer manufacturer, and all your installed software.
